A GROWING GREENWAY

The Moross Greenway expands green space, supports pollinators, and improves urban ecosystems in a way that benefits both the surrounding neighborhood and the wider city. For residents, it creates a healthier and more enjoyable environment close to home; for drivers, it turns an everyday corridor into a greener, more inviting gateway through the east side.

About

Our Story:
Breathing Life into the Corridor

The Moross Greenway is a community-driven effort to reimagine the corridor as a greener, safer, and more welcoming part of Detroit’s east side.

By expanding green space, supporting pollinators, and improving the surrounding environment, the project is designed to benefit both the people who live nearby and the many drivers who travel through the area each day. Through long-term stewardship, thoughtful design, and community partnership, Moross Greenway is helping turn an ordinary corridor into a more connected and vibrant public space.

OUR IMPACT

200,000+ GALLONS OF STORMWATER MANAGED

Green infrastructure along the corridor helps absorb and filter stormwater, reducing runoff and easing pressure on Detroit’s drainage systems.

10,475+ NATIVE PLANTINGS ESTABLISHED

Thousands of woody and perennial plantings now contribute to a growing urban habitat corridor, supporting biodiversity and strengthening Detroit’s ecological resilience.

120+ COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS ENGAGED

A growing network of volunteers powers the Greenway, contributing time, energy, and stewardship to maintain and expand the space.

100+ METRIC TONS OF CO₂ STORED

At full canopy maturity, the Greenway’s trees and plantings are projected to store over 100 metric tons of carbon, helping mitigate urban climate impacts.

POLLINATOR HABITAT CREATED

Native plantings provide critical food and nesting resources for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, rebuilding essential ecosystem connections in the city.

$1.18M+ IN NEARBY PROPERTY VALUE GAINS

Early indicators suggest significant increases in surrounding property values, reflecting the Greenway’s role in neighborhood revitalization.

FROM OVERLOOKED, TO IN DEMAND

The Greenway is helping reshape how people experience and value this neighborhood.

What was once a corridor of underused and overlooked space is now becoming a place people are proud to walk through, spend time in, and call home. Cleaner streets, thriving green space, and consistent community care are transforming the day-to-day experience of the area in ways that are immediately visible.

As native plantings take root, public art appears, and volunteers continue to invest their time and energy, the Greenway is creating a sense of momentum. It feels safer, more welcoming, and more alive. People are not just passing through anymore, they are stopping, exploring, and engaging with the space.
